While there is no tangible winner of any political debate my personal perspective was that Senator Bernie Sanders "won" the democratic debate with his concrete and honest plans for the country along with his personal values and opinions. The other candidates while they are important seemed to lack an "umph" factor, along with spewing to much bullshit rhetoric in order to please the masses. None of the other candidate seemed to have a concrete political views throughout the their political career. Bernie first differentiated himself from the other candidates by stating he is a "Democratic socialists", while also setting the debate up for a progressive discussion. Bernie continually spoke for and to the American people making him seem like a very relatable candidate, while Hilary being in the "1%" makes her much less relatable for the lower and middle class of America. All the candidates are critical to pay attention to, since they could possibly run the country, but it is quite obvious that Hilary and Bernie are the two most likely to get elected.
Bernie throughout the whole debate didn't seem to be "using" rhetoric it truly felt like his opinions and plans for the country were not morphed and disguised in order to please the majority. He took a concrete standpoint on gun control, cilvil rights, perpetual wars, wealth inequality, and most immortally climate change. Bernie had a no "bullshit" attitude which he clearly expressed when he politely told Hilary that her email discussion is irrelevant to the American people. Throughout the whole debate Bernie made it clear that his interests were outside of himself and for democracy and the American people he stated, "What this campaign is about is whether we can mobilize our people to take back our government from a handful of billionaires and create the vibrant democracy we know we can and should have." The other candidates had trouble hiding their true agenda and to me it was quite obvious to be a more self beneficial agenda than what Bernie Portrayed. Bernie understands and did not pussy-foot around the issues brought to light. He particularly got my support when asked about climate change he voiced, "I believe, and Pope Francis made this point, this is a moral issue." Bernie in my opinion understands and acknowledges the "real" issues our country and planet are facing, also his agenda also does not seem controlled by the public opinion. After the CNN debate Facebook polls revealed that 80% of people who told their survey prefer Bernie over Hilary and the other candidates. Bernie moved the issues and set the tone of the stage for the evening. Bernie "won" the debate due to his lack of "bullshit" rhetoric and aggressive and concrete approach to actual important issues, while relating to the American people. Bernie Sanders may be the knight and shining armor that the liberals have been hoping for to save our planet and our people.
